For example, the southeastern part of Moldova decided to remain faithful to the ideals of communism, declared itself independent and separated from the Moldavian SSR. The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is still an unrecognized state.
When photographer Julia Outts heard about it, she decided that she definitely had to go there and see everything with her own eyes. "I wanted to know how people who live in a country with an uncertain status and future feel."

Yulia saw a self-proclaimed republic with its own currency, border control, parliament, national anthem and citizenship.

All these elements of an independent country are not recognized by the rest of the world, including Russia.

But the inhabitants of Transnistria still hope for a better future.

Young people are the part of the population that did not make a choice in favor of the independence of the region.

This choice was made for them.

They were born in a non-existent country.

"Many young people want to leave Pridnestrovie because it is incredibly difficult to find a job here that would pay decently, not to mention university diplomas that are not recognized in any country in the world.
