The Naked Truth: Brave patients confront cancer by showing off scars in Ami Barwell's poignant photo project

Cancer is a terrible disease, but if a person has the strength of spirit, he will be able to resist it. 16 brave people who were diagnosed with it bared their scars for a poignant photo shoot to show the harsh reality of the disease and inspire others to fight it. Photographer Ami Barwell captured men and women in the pictures for the Defiance project ("Challenge"), which became part of the campaign to fight cancer in the UK.

Stella Bradley, 53 years old. Doctors diagnosed her with breast cancer in 2016.

Many have seen photos of women with removed breasts for the first time, who look so beautiful, sexy, strong and amazing.

Thomasina McGuigan, 45 years old. The woman was diagnosed with invasive stage 3 breast cancer at the age of 20.

24-year-old Corey Clayton was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma in 2015. The guy had his femur replaced with a titanium rod.

Donna Anken, 44 years old. Breast cancer was discovered in September 2015.

Samantha Evans, 42, was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2015.The organizers of the cancer campaign hope that the society, after seeing these photos, will be inspired to help those who are struggling with this terrible disease. A poignant project that demonstrates the inner strength and invincibility of the spirit of patients, causes a storm of emotions and calls on those who have given up in the fight for their lives not to give up. The body may lose its beauty and weaken, but the soul remains blooming, and this is radiated by the participants of an amazing photo shoot.
