In the early twentieth century he worked as a teacher of botany in Jewish-Slavic ghetto of new York. He began to photograph in 1905, telling photographs about the fate of immigrants in the United States, showing their poverty, confusion and false hope for a better future — if not for themselves then for their children.
Photographs of Lewis Hine were extremely popular. Of them produced slides for lectures and the posters, they were printed in magazines, brochures, books.
