Practically untouched by the wars of the XX century, it has preserved many architectural masterpieces of various styles, from Gothic to Baroque.
Thanks to the abundance of towers and medieval churches piercing the horizon, Prague is known as the "city of a hundred spires", but, however, it can also be called the city of a hundred bridges. According to Prague.net , there are more than three hundred bridges in the city. 18 of them cross the Vltava River, and a lot of others lead through smaller rivers, streams and ravines.
Charles Bridge (Czech. Karl most) is one of the main symbols of Prague. It leads from the right—bank Old Town to the Small Country - the area adjacent to the Castle, the Prague Fortress.
The bridge is framed by the famous observation towers. The Old Town Tower marks the entrance to the bridge from the side of the old town.
The Malostran towers lead to the bridge from the left bank of the Vltava.
Charles Bridge is decorated with a unique sculpture gallery outlining its limits on both sides.
Bridge of the Legions (Czech. most Legií) will allow you to get from the National Theater to Victory Avenue.
In addition to the atmospheric architecture, the Legions Bridge is also notable for the fact that from it you can get to Streletsky Island-a park in the middle of the Vltava — a corner of relaxation and tranquility in the bustling tourist center of the city.
Manesov Bridge (Czech. Mánesów most) is the next one downstream of the Vltava after Charles. It was named after the Czech painter Josef Manes, whose monument stands at the base of the bridge.
Manes Bridge is almost deserted compared to its neighbor, which is popular with tourists, although it is located two hundred meters from it.
Built already in the XX century, the Yiraskov Bridge (Czech. Most) allows you to move from Smikhov to Nowe-the place where Wenceslas and Charles Square are located.
If you walk across the bridge from the Smikhov side, on the right bank of the Vltava you can find the famous Prague "Dancing House" — an office building that is called an architectural metaphor for a couple twisting in a dance.
Chekhov Bridge (Czech. Čechów most) is the only Art Nouveau bridge in the city.
It leads from Dvorakovaya Embankment to the so—called "lungs of Prague" — Letensky Gardens, where, by the way, there is a rather unusual attraction - a giant metronome.
Palacki Bridge (Czech. Palackého most), connecting the districts of Podskali and Smikhov, was built in 1876-1878 and became the first bridge in Prague on which a tram was launched. The bridge is named after the Czech historian František Palacki.
There is also a bridge in Prague, from which one name remains: now the Powder Bridge (Czech. Prašný most), leading to Prague Castle from the north side, is a fortified embankment with a tourist tunnel crossing the Deer Ravine.
Troisky Bridge (Czech. Trojský most), the youngest and most modern in Prague, was built in 2014. Convenient pedestrian and bicycle paths were equipped on the bridge, so it quickly became a favorite place for walking residents of the districts of Holesovice and Prague-Troy.
After crossing the bridge from the side of Holesovice, you can get to the picturesque Troisky Castle and the Prague Zoo.
