The alligator leather bag is decorated with ten white gold butterflies, four of which are encrusted with diamonds, and three with sapphires and rare paraiba tourmalines, weighing more than 130 carats. The bag is also decorated with a diamond pavet clasp. It takes 1,000 hours to create one such bag.
The design was inspired by the ocean, and the brand intends to donate about 72 million from the sale of each bag to clean the marine environment from plastic. One of the founders of the brand, Matteo Rodolfo Milanesi, said that the bag is a tribute to his father, who died when Milanesi was a teenager, and he was inspired to create it by memories of how they spent time at sea.
We used to spend every summer at sea between Greece and Turkey, and I've never been so happy as when we went boating between the islands, " Milanesi said. — Although mass tourism was still a long way off, we often saw plastic bags in the water and tar stains leaking from oil tankers.
Because of the pandemic and the gloves and masks that people thoughtlessly throw away, I started to see even more plastic in the sea than when I was a kid. It reminded me of my father, who would dive into the water, collect plastic bags and bottles floating in the sea, and help me wipe the tar from my hands that I would come across on the beach when building sand castles.
Caroline explained that the choice of stones is connected with the sea:
Boarini Milanesi was founded in Italy in 2016. The brand focuses on "less, but better" — that is, it produces fewer products, but of better quality.
Each bag is made to order, and the customer's name is stamped on the leather of the product. The inside of the bag and the packaging are made of vegetable-tanned leather, wool and cashmere instead of the commonly used synthetic materials. In the process of manufacturing the product, the customer can communicate with the master through a live broadcast.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, at the moment the most expensive bag in the world is the Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse. The heart-shaped handbag made of 18-karat gold, encrusted with 4,517 diamonds, 105 of which are yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colorless, is estimated at 2,375,850 pounds - about 240 million rubles. It took ten craftsmen more than 8,000 hours to make the bag.
Earlier this year, a new world record was set by a Himalaya Birkin bag encrusted with diamonds and white gold, when it was sold at auction for 230,000 pounds (23.2 million rubles). The bag, which is the creation of the French fashion house Hermes, is considered the most coveted designer product in the world and the" Holy Grail " of collectors.
It was bought during an online auction at Christie's, which raised 1.75 million pounds (more than 176 million rubles). The bag was the most expensive lot, and it was purchased by an anonymous buyer. As such, this bag is the most expensive ever purchased at an online auction, as well as the most expensive bag sold in America.
