For a long time there were rumors that the central figure of the film would be Charles Manson, an odious American criminal, the creator of the sect "Family". In 1969, on his orders, members of the sect committed a series of brutal murders. The most resonant was the murder of actress Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski, who was eight months pregnant. Manson was sentenced to nine life sentences and died in prison on November 19 this year.

People who read the script confirmed that the maniac will appear in the film. But not as the main character, but as part of the image of Los Angeles at that time.

1969 is considered the end of the hippie movement. The murders provoked by Manson took off the rose-colored glasses from the Americans, pulling them out of the atmosphere of universal love.

The plot of Tarantino's film is built around an actor who is trying to find his way into the movie business. In parallel, his understudy is also doing the same. The drama unfolds against the background of significant social events, including the acts of the sect "Family".

Now the director is busy selecting actors. Margot Robbie, known for the film "The Wolf of Wall Street", seems to have already been approved for the role of Sharon Tate. And the main role is claimed by such stars as Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Cruise.

The film will be shot at Sony Studios. After the recent scandal that ruined the reputation of Harvey Vanstein, Tarantino terminated the agreement with The Weinstein Company, with which he had been cooperating for a long time. Many studios became interested in the project of a new picture, and Sony broke the bank, making significant concessions. Tarantino received the right of final installation and an increased percentage of revenue.

Filming will begin in Los Angeles next summer, the budget will be about one hundred million dollars. The premiere is scheduled for 2019.
