The plane was operating charter flight 7K-9268 on the route Sharm el-Sheikh - St. Petersburg, but 23 minutes after takeoff with the crew, radio communication was lost, and the liner itself disappeared from radar.

The crash site was found 50 kilometers northeast of the city of Nekhel. The wreckage of the liner was scattered over 13 kilometers in an ellipse-shaped area, the area of which reached 30 kilometers. All 224 people on board were killed.
The tail section of flight 9268.

There were 25 children among them. Including 10-month-old Darina Gromova, whose photo was taken shortly before departure. The picture became a symbol of this tragedy.

Her mom signed the frame: "The main passenger." The girl's parents died with her.

The plane began to fall after the explosion of an improvised explosive device in the tail section. A few days after the plane crash, the Sinai division of ISIS (an organization banned in the Russian Federation) claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.
The crash of the Airbus A320 was the largest plane crash in the history of Egypt, the largest plane crash of 2015, as well as the most massive death of Russian citizens in a plane crash in the history of world aviation.
