The life of a provincial Spanish prostitutes

In the framework of the project "a waiting Game" by the Catalan photographer Chema Salvans (Txema Salvans) many years photographing the life of Spanish workers in the sex industry. Not the prostitutes who work in brothels and girls, voting on the back roads of the province and totally unprotected by a different kind of trouble.

Decided to do this series, I was going to explain to them what they want, maybe even offer money. I'm sure if you offer 50 euros and promise that the photograph will not be able to see the face, any agree. But it would make a statement. I try to act as a biologist, who did not interfere with the environment of the object of his observation. And then I decided to disguise themselves. Animals are usually merged with the environment they live in. But there are those that mimic poisonous animals. For example, no one is hunting for poisonous coral snakes. Identified by their yellow and black rings. And there is a non-venomous snakes living in the same habitat, they mimic the coloration of the coral snake. I thought in the area of the prostitutes working on the road a lot. Bought a helmet, a vest and yellow surveying tripod. Attached to the tripod bracket to attach the wide angle camera. With this outfit I went to the girls and said, "Look, I'll stay here a bit near the car."

Here with them, anything can happen — they are killed, beaten, some customers leave without paying. Just because a man is physically stronger.

They come from Romania, Russia, Latin America or Africa, and do not think that they are all old or ugly — some of them are quite girl, who previously had never left their villages. But they can't rent an apartment in the city, because they have no documents. Almost all of them are in the hands of the mafia or pimps. And in this space they are totally unprotected.
