At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, during the great era of Railways, each city on the Western coastline of the North American Continent for growth and prosperity needed a quick and reliable transport line security from the East. San Diego in those days was a small port city, and then business pioneers decided that for the growth of the city they want a direct connection to El Centro in the East to transport goods from larger Northern neighbour Los Angeles.
