The first shots of the new Pirelli calendar 2018: a fairy tale in "black tones"

Photographer Tim Walker has completed work on the Pirelli 2018 calendar, and the carefully hidden details — the concept and the characters — have finally ceased to be a mystery.

The legendary calendar has recently radically changed its format and completely moved away from banal nudity to a deeper meaning. The 2018 edition is inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The surrealist photographer Tim Walker, a guru in the field of fashion photography, undertook to bring the fairy tale to life. Naomi Campbell, Whoopi Goldberg and other media personalities got into his lens. At the same time, only dark-skinned models are represented in the 2018 edition.

12 months of the calendar will be presented by 17 people from the fashion world. A full-fledged calendar will appear closer to winter, but in the meantime you can watch the backstage of filming.

The idea to release a calendar with only dark-skinned models was already implemented in the 1987 issue. Then 16-year-old Naomi Campbell appeared on the cover. But those photos were very different from the latest editions. Over the past two years, the Pirelli calendar has moved away from the nude and sexy images that could be seen in the first editions since 1964.
