The only difference is that God's people can control their passions through their firm faith. But this is not accurate, because there are exceptions to the rules. The abbess of St. James Catholic School, located in California, USA, Sister Mary Margaret Cruyper, could not cope with the temptations and periodically spent money from donations in roulette and cards. As a result, the waste was simply huge.
Sister Mary Cruyper had an impeccable reputation and was the head of the Catholic school for more than 10 years. At the age of 79, the woman decided to leave her post and retire. But a quiet pension is no longer in danger, as it turned out that the humble bride of God had been stealing money from the school's cash register for years to satisfy her vicious passion for gambling.
Mary took the monastic vow at the age of 18 and, like all the sisters, renounced avarice and worldly temptations. But it is clear that she was not completely sincere, since the last 10 years of her life were not at all righteous in putting her hand into the donations of St. James ' School.
After the abbess retired, the new school administration conducted a financial audit that revealed a shortfall of $ 835,000 (about 61 million rubles). We must pay tribute to Cruyper, she did not take the sin of lying on her soul and when she was presented with a claim, she immediately confessed to her crime.
Sister Mary told me that for years she had been falsifying accounts in such a way as to carve out of the donations that the school's pupils and nun-teachers lived on for themselves to play in the casino. The fall of Cruyper began with her own credit cards, which the gambling nun emptied very quickly. After that, it was necessary not only to look for funds for the game, but also to pay off debts. It was these circumstances that pushed the headmistress of a Catholic school on a crooked path of crime.
As an adult and sometimes God-fearing person, Mary Cruyper constantly consoled herself with the fact that she was a victim of circumstances and temporary financial failures and takes other people's money only for a while. But the amount stolen grew like a snowball, because the nun could not refuse to visit the casino.
Now gambling sister Mary insists that she is "very remorseful and sorry for any damage she has caused," constantly prays and hopes very much that the court will take into account her many years of service to people, to God and her venerable age. If the Lord does not hear the woman's prayers, she faces a prison sentence of up to 40 years, which at her age can be considered a life sentence.
It remains to add that belonging to the clergy does not mean the righteousness of life. An example of this can be the stories of these 7 popes, who did not worry too much about morality and deanery.
