Most of all, Marcin is attracted to shooting landscapes at night, when it is possible to show not only the environment in a new light, but also to maximize the beauty of the stars and the Milky Way.
The photographer believes that the Milky Way curving overhead against the dark sky is the best object for shooting. At the same time, modern cameras can capture much more than our eyes see.
Usually the Hare explores areas near his current home in California, but his passion for photography has led him to visit many stunning places, from the coast of Australia to the harsh volcanic landscapes of Iceland.
Marcin's works were shortlisted for the prestigious Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2020 competition, where the Greenwich Royal Observatory annually selects the best astronomical photographs from around the world.
The genre of astrophotography, of course, seems incredibly romantic: you immediately imagine a sky strewn with stars and a giant strawberry supermoon. However, on the "reverse" side of the moon (so ironically we can call the laborious process of astrography), everything is less pathetic: equatorial mount, alt-azimuth mount, searching for places without illumination, waiting on cold nights. In order to photograph deep sky objects, you need to work hard.
Scientists consider the Milky Way one of the oldest galaxies in the universe, photographers — one of the most beautiful.
