The 20 best works from the Nikon Small World 2019 Microphotography Contest

The Nikon Small World jury has determined the winners of the Small World competition, the oldest competition for those interested in microphotography. The Nikon Small World competition is held for everyone who is interested in microphotography and is a leading showcase for photographers from a wide variety of scientific disciplines.

This year, the jury viewed thousands of interesting photos of the invisible world from more than 100 countries. The winner was the image of a turtle embryo using fluorescence and stereomicroscopy. The authors of this photo were American scientists Teresa Zgoda and Teresa Kugler.
