One of the most prestigious adventure and sports photography competitions in the world, Red Bull Illume has announced the winners of this year. The jury team of 53 people selects creative and exciting images that show extreme athletes in the most dizzying situations of their lives.

In 2021, the winner of the contest was Will Saunders for a photo of a climber falling from the Indian Creek cliff in Utah (USA). His work was selected from 47 thousand applications from around the world.

The "Playground" category is by Markus Berger (Austria), who filmed wakeboarders in the depths of the Hintertux glacier.

Thomas Montsorno from Italy was awarded for a photo of an athlete who crawls on the ice over Lake Baikal – the deepest lake in the world.

It takes your breath away from the photo of Victoria Kohner-Flanagan (USA), who showed an extreme "rest" of a climber while climbing a rock in Pine Creek Canyon, California.

Czech photographer Jan Castle was named the most creative for a photo of a skateboarder against the background of a mysterious spiral. The unusual architectural shape turned out to be a nozzle on the lens, which Castle made with his own hands.

Energy category - photographer Dan Kraus from Salt Lake City, Utah

A vivid photo of a canoe slalom at the Hook Waterfall brought an award to Rod Hill from New Zealand.

In the "Lifestyle" category, the victory went to Caroline Unnat from Germany. She photographed a surfer in full attire on the way to the Eisbach River.
