Soviet soldiers painted in Sofia

Categories: Europe

Unknown people in the center of Sofia desecrated a monument to the soldiers of the Soviet army. The vandal action is timed to coincide with the next anniversary of the suppression of the Prague Spring, the hooligans painted the monument with pink paint and left inscriptions on it in Czech and Bulgarian: “Bulgaria apologizes!”, “Prague 68” and “Apologize!”.

This is not the first desecration of the monument to the Soviet army in the center of Sofia. In 2011, Soviet soldiers were painted as heroes of popular culture. The vandals were not found. Then, for two years, the monument was decorated more than once and even put balaclavas on the heads of the fighters as a sign of support for the Russian group Pussy Riot.
