Her realistic paintings glorify the beauty of the female body and inner harmony. The heroines of her portraits most often sleep or rest in relaxed poses, so the paintings have a calming effect on the viewer. (Warning! Nudity).
Soledad Fernandez was born in the capital of Spain, Madrid, in 1949. Soon after this, her family moved to the small provincial town of Collado Villalbe. The artist lives and works there to this day, leaving her small homeland only for exhibitions and master classes.
Fernandez is a professional artist. In the 60s, she studied at the Seville Art School, where her mentor was one of the masters of modern Spanish painting, José Gutierrez Valle. She later continued her studies at the Circle of Fine Arts studio in Madrid.
In the early 80s, the artist went on a long trip to Europe. She traveled to Paris, London, Rome and Venice, visiting museums and galleries, and meeting with master painters. During this period, she organized several solo exhibitions, which went almost unnoticed.
Soledad Fernandez's first success came in 1987. Then her paintings appeared in the exhibition of the Sammer Gallery in London. After this, successful exhibitions were held in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Zaragoza. Having become famous in Europe, Fernandez introduced her work to the people of the United States. Her paintings were well received in galleries in Washington and Chicago.
The success of Soledad Fernandez's paintings among the viewer, according to art critics, is based on the ability to reveal female sensuality and beauty. The artist’s high productivity also plays a role. Every time she demonstrates her work, she presents new interesting paintings.
The Russian hyperrealist artist Anna Marinova is no worse at depicting women on vacation than Fernandez.
