Skinny dipping: the beauty of the naked body by Deanna Templeton

For 8 years, Deanna Templeton filmed her naked friends and relatives swimming in the pool in her backyard. The result of her work was a series of impressive photographs depicting the beauty of the naked human body. All of them were included in Deanna's book The Swimming Pool.

"My husband Ed inspired me to create the project. This happened 8 years ago. One day he decided to swim in our pool naked, and then I picked up the camera and took some pictures. They seemed very beautiful to me," said Dinna.

Deanna took both black and white photos and color ones. For 8 years, she managed to take pictures with different cameras, and the decision to publish the photo in one or another version was already taken during subsequent processing.

All the characters are depicted in the pictures with their heads turned away from the camera, or with their eyes closed. Therefore, these images can hardly be called portraits. Rather, it is a kind of study of the forms of the human body.

Thus, the project, which began as an exercise in depicting aesthetically beautiful forms, gradually transformed.

"Over time, I began to see a new meaning in my pictures. They seemed to embody the strength and confidence of the people who were depicted on them. This sense further complemented the basis of the project," says Dinna.

"It was only a few years after the start of the project that I realized what I wanted to say with his help. My patience gradually gave the pictures a certain meditativeness. They are very simple, and this has its own charm," the photographer believes.
