Silent protest: A British man has been standing in the middle of the road in the same place for seven years, creating traffic jams

The Briton, who was nicknamed the Silent Man, for seven years created impressive traffic jams on the road in Swansea, standing in the middle of a busy highway. During this time, the man did not say a word, so no one still knows why he did it. For his actions, he has already been behind bars nine times, but continued to go to the same place after his release. The doctors examined the man and determined that he could talk, he just didn't want to.

Since 2014, 51-year-old David Hampson (David Hampson) has constantly obstructed normal traffic, standing in the middle of the roadway in the same place. An order was issued against him on charges of criminal behavior: the man was banned from obstructing traffic on the roads of England and Wales.

But, apparently, the Briton is not bothered by official bans. In 2018, Hampson was sentenced to three years in prison for blocking the road in the same place where he was standing before. As always, the man refused to give evidence and simply remained silent. The same thing happened in December 2020. Now he faces a criminal charge.

Since the Silent Man never told about his motives, no one still knows why he blocked the road. Witnesses, including police officers, confirmed in court that Hampson can speak.

The man has already been behind bars nine times over the past seven years for repeatedly creating traffic jams, but continues to go out on the highway. Even when he is arrested and handcuffed, he refuses to explain his actions.

During the last court hearing, the judge sent Hampson to a psychiatrist for examination, but even in the presence of doctors, the Briton did not say a word. Nevertheless, the doctors determined that the accused can speak, just does not want to do it.

Traffic jams are one of the main problems of big cities. To relieve the roads a little, China has launched a bus that passes over cars.
