King Kong is one of a series of films from the 1930s that tried to replicate the success of the silent film The Lost World based on Arthur Conan Doyle's novel by showing both humans and prehistoric monsters on the screen (in addition to the gigantic ape, the film also featured prehistoric lizards and pterodactyl). According to a popular hypothesis, director Merian Cooper was inspired to create the image of Kong by a monkey from the poem "Crocodile" by Korney Chukovsky: the future director was captured during the Soviet-Polish war and began to understand Russian a little there - supposedly there was only one book for the whole camp, exactly this one.

The film featured a half-meter model, a life-size bust of Kong with controlled facial expressions, and a hand with movable fingers to portray the image of the giant gorilla in the film. Special effects also played a big role - the imposition of game and animation fragments. Effects were handled by Willis O'Brien, who previously worked on the set of The Lost World.
After the sensation that "King Kong" made, the studio released a sequel - "Son of Kong", but this tape did not repeat the success of the first film. In the 50s, with the filing of the Japanese film "Godzilla", the theme of giant monsters received a new birth, and in 1962, the film "King Kong vs. Godzilla" was released in Japan - the first color film about Kong. In 1967, a sequel called King Kong's Escape was released. In 1976, a remake of "King Kong" was released, and the action of the film there was moved to the 70s, and in 1986 - a sequel to this tape, "King Kong Lives". In December 2005, the premiere of a new remake directed by Peter Jackson took place - using the latest technology, the film conveyed the atmosphere of the 1933 tape.
