They are close in genre to caricature, as they ridicule disgusting human vices. The target of the Seeds are cruelty, passion for power, greed, lies and other negative qualities. At the same time, their carriers — modern politicians, officials and their narrow-minded admirers - also fall under the distribution.
In his paintings, Skrepetsky criticizes Stalinism, the ideology of the "Russian world" and the Putin regime. The Russian president and his initiatives most often become the themes of his works. Semyon touches on such painful topics for Russians as insulting the feelings of believers, nationalism, the cult of "grandfathers-winners".
Sometimes memes taken from the Internet are also found in the artist's paintings. There's sitting on a bottle, and stealing toilets, and flying into space on trampolines, and much more. Skrepetsky is not only an artist, but also a popular blogger. He has a YouTube channel dedicated to criticizing Russian politics.
Semyon is also represented in social networks — he has pages and communities on VKontakte, Twitter and Facebook. The artist's Instagram account is the most long-suffering. He is often banned because of the complaints of numerous detractors. But Skrepetsky is not discouraged and continues to show the world the unpleasant underside of Russian reality.
But the American artist Scott Shadley uses other techniques in his satirical works. He paints portraits of leaders and dictators in very unusual images.
