He creates refined and emphatically restrained images, devoid of unnecessary embellishments and complex productions. The photographer tries to make the shots natural and meaningful, like little stories. The most striking thing about them is calmness and serenity. The viewer, although at a distance, is imbued with the intimacy of the performance.
At the age of 30, Stefan Rappo left Switzerland, left the position of designer and designer of heavy forestry equipment, moved to the south of France and began attending a photography school in Toulouse. He believes that the ability to photograph is mainly due to the fact that he took a lot of pictures himself.
Rappo admits that he made major mistakes, and the photos really turned out badly. But each time he tried to do his job better. Cooperation with recognized industry professionals helped him in this. Stefan moved to Paris and worked as an assistant for Camille Akrans and Bruno Aveyan, and then for Peter Lindbergh himself. Cooperation with the latter lasted more than five years. At the same time, Rappo was engaged in personal projects, including staged cinematic photo stories, projects in the nude genre, as well as commercial works.
Stefan Rappo's nude photographs are a silent and poetic celebration of women, portraits are expressive and natural, and photo stories are cinematic and meaningful as short films.
