In New York, Marilyn settled in the suite of the Ambassador Hotel and founded the film company Marilyn Monroe Productions together with photographer and friend Milton Greene. Both Milton and Marilyn herself agreed that the image of the actress requires revision if she wants to appear as a serious actress in the future. Milton ordered a photo essay in the magazine "Redbook" in the hope that they would publish pictures of the "real Marilyn".

For one week, magazine photographer Ed Feingersh followed Marilyn Monroe everywhere in New York. As a result, he created an amazing series of black-and-white portraits of a Hollywood movie star.
