Pink Dreams

Produced for the first time in 1972, Renault 5 celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! To honor this, the French automaker knocked on the door of the famous designer Pierre Gonalons, and this electric show car that fascinated with its pink color and delicate details emerged.

Stating that he had unlimited freedom while creating the 'Renault 5 Diamant', which brings together the worlds of automotive and interior decoration, Gonalons still preserved the timeless aesthetic of its version 50 years ago. However, we can see that Gonalons' design identity is reflected in the silhouette and details, inspired by decorative arts and jewellery.

Saying that he sees the R5 as a symbol of a pop, optimistic and definitely modern life, the designer paid homage to this revolutionary design while creating the car of his dreams, while aiming to reflect the colors and shapes of his own universe to the automotive world.

In the R5 Diamant, which we can also call the realization of the artist's vision of the 'car of the future', important parts of the original of the vehicle have been removed and the car has been redesigned to resemble a jewel. For example, the shape of the headlights and taillights resembles gemstones, while a sun pattern is placed in the center of the car's wheels.

The color of the R5 Diamant is a work of art in itself! This special color mix, consisting of pink and gold, obtained with three layers of paint, comes to life with golden or blue glitters according to the light.

When we come to the minimalist interior of the vehicle, a spiral-shaped steering wheel made of recycled French marble welcomes us. Moreover, this striking shape does not compromise on functionality! In addition, the control panel covered with horsehair fabric, the floor covering made of mohair wool, and the brass and gold decorations are proof of Gonalons' passion for details. The artist didn't even forget to redesign the car key!

In the background of all these interesting details lie advanced technology features. Doors opened with fingerprint reader; three-level gear forward, reverse and neutral; three separate indicators showing speed, petrol status and time; Among them, we can count a dock where the driver can place his smartphone and access everything else necessary, such as navigation, from there.
