People in the lens: stunning images from the 2018 National Geographic Travel Photographer Contest

The acceptance of works for the 2018 National Geographic Travel Photographer contest is in full swing. Travel photographers from all over the world submit their works in three categories - "People", "Cities" and "Nature". In each category, the winner will be selected, who will receive 10 thousand dollars, as well as the honorary title of "Photographer of the Year". But so far, only one thing is clear: this year it will not be easy for the jury to choose the best of the best, since photographers have already sent a lot of great pictures, and over the next 5 weeks the number of talented works will only increase.

"A tribute to Marilyn." Tihomir Trichkov (Tihomir Trichkov)

The photographer saw this scene while traveling in India. At first, his imagination drew pictures of the battle, the smell of gunpowder, the sounds of shots and the screams of the wounded, but a sudden gust of wind radically changed the picture, lifting the hems of white robes, and transferred the photographer to the famous movie scene with a sensual blonde.

Char Kaliganj is a slum area in Bangladesh, which is home to one of the largest shipyards in Asia. The houses here are made of the skeletons of rusty ships, and at the shipyard 15 thousand people from dawn to dusk dismantle old ships. The age of local workers varies from 8 to 80 years, and they all work shoulder to shoulder. The work here is hard, dirty and dangerous, but only thanks to this place thousands of people get jobs and are able to feed their families.
