He reported the find to the Yevpatoriya Museum of local lore, and it was found that Subplate is an ancient Greek grave at the end of IV — beginning of III century BC.
Under the sand of city beach hiding man-made stone box with a length of 1.2 meters. It was surveyed by employees of the Museum, along with researcher of the Institute of archaeology of the Crimea, Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Priznavam.
According to experts, the stove relates to the Kerkinitida — ancient Greek Polis, which existed at the present location of Yalta from the middle of VI century BC. Fragments of ancient Kerkinitida located on the Cape of Quarantine on the territory of children's clinical sanatorium named Elizabeth Glinka.
In the stone box were found the remains of the funerary equipment: dice, two vessels and a small coin. "Ancient robbers usually dumped on the surface of the contents of the grave, and chose what was of value," — explained Lyudmila Dubinina, Deputy Director of the Museum for scientific work.
She said that such findings are rare: "Look at how well-hewn limestone slabs, of which the walls are made, how carefully they adjusted to each other."
The city authorities said that previously in this area have not found anything like: "More than two millennia ago the shore was much further than it is now, maybe something was left under water".
