Mysterious beauties in the paintings of the master of fantastic realism Michael Maschka

The combination of "fantastic realism" looks strange, because these two words are mutually exclusive. But it is in this style that the wonderful German artist Michael Maschka works. The plots of his paintings are fantastic and surreal, but their characters and surroundings are worked out with amazing realism.

Michael Maschka was born in 1962 in Augsburg. Since childhood, he was attracted to the art of the Renaissance and Baroque. Despite the fact that no one in the boy's family was associated with art, Michael began to draw early. After school, he entered the technical college of Augsburg at the art department. Having received a diploma, Masha moved to Berlin in 1983.

The young artist dreamed of continuing his education, but could not enter the Berlin University of the Arts. Then he learned to be a social teacher and worked in his specialty for 10 years. All this time, Michael did not leave art and his paintings appeared at many exhibitions.

In 1994, an important event took place in the life of the painter. He met the painter, sculptor and architect Ernst Fuchs, the founder of the school of fantastic realism, who became his mentor. Together they have implemented several major projects in the field of architecture. The most famous was the Fuchs Church, built near the Austrian city of Harz.

Although Michael Maschka works in a very modern genre of painting, he uses the techniques of the old masters. In many of his paintings you can see the naked female body. But according to the author's intention, it is not connected with sexuality, but symbolizes naturalness and vulnerability.

In many of the artist's paintings, scenes from Greek and German mythology can be traced. They are tightly tied to the theme of destruction and creation in nature, which can be traced in the master's work. Masha's works are symbolic and make the viewer think and make an attempt to rediscover the world.
