By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/marilyn-monroe39s-last-photo-shoot.htmlMarilyn Monroe was the epitome of femininity. She had everything: playfulness, cunning, beauty, charisma, coquetry and many many more traits that make up a woman. Marilyn was imitated by thousands of girls and women; she was considered a style icon, because she had excellent taste and knew how to choose fashionable clothes. The blonde of all centuries and nations had many fans, because she could not leave a man indifferent. This beauty starred in films, sang, danced and never sat still. It’s still a pleasure to look at Marilyn, as photographs of her inspire, spiritualize and show what a real woman should be.
Bert Stern is an American celebrity and fashion photographer. His most famous work is a collection of two and a half thousand photographs of Marilyn Monroe, which took three days to create. These photographs were taken for Vogue six weeks before Marilyn's death.
In 1962, Vogue magazine planned to publish an article about this woman, who became the ideal of beauty for many. They hired photographer Bert Stern, who specializes in portraiture, to supplement the article with recent photographs of the actress. But at that time, no one could have thought that this photo shoot would go down in history as “Marilyn Monroe’s last photo shoot.”
The photo shoot lasted for three days: Bert and Marilyn looked for new ideas for filming, selected images, selected the most successful pictures and crossed out the unsuitable ones. By this time, the actress was at the peak of her popularity and a very influential person in her field, so not a single photograph was published without her permission.
Over these few days, in July 1962, the photographer and the actress found a common language: the working atmosphere often became just a friendly conversation. Marilyn was showing off her new house, which she had recently purchased, so most of the rooms were empty.
Less than a month later, the actress was found dead in her bed. Disputes about whether it was suicide, or whether in this way one of the influential “friends” silenced the actress, are still going on...
During filming, almost two and a half thousand frames were taken. Of course, there are only a few dozen high-quality photographs approved by the actress left. In the photos, the 36-year-old actress looks thinner than usual. The reason for this was a pancreatic operation that Marilyn underwent a few weeks before the photo shoot. This is also evidenced by a scar on her stomach, which the actress was embarrassed about and asked to have retouched in the photographs.
