Pictolic connected with Luca Luce to delve into his creative journey and artistic vision. He revealed that his passion for 3D makeup began as a playful experiment. "I have been drawing as a self-taught artist since I was a child, starting at the age of 5, and I have never stopped. I have always been passionate about 3D images and wanted to experiment with this technique on the skin—first on the palm of my hand, and then on my shaved head and face. I was also inspired by the wonderful works of Escher."

Luca explained that he starts by sketching the figure he plans to transform into 3D. He then uses makeup tools to bring his vision to life. "Usually, I invent what I do; however, for collaborations, I also draw characters from films or fantasy. Sometimes, I make sketches on paper before applying them to the skin, but often I experiment directly on the skin."

Like any creative endeavor, Luca faces his share of challenges. One of the most demanding projects was experimenting with the illusion of a cubist face. "We know well that the face is full of volume, so to make the lines perfectly straight and flatten the volume, I had to always stay still in the same direction as the camera. That was one of the biggest difficulties."

We asked the artist where he finds inspiration for new makeup designs. He said, "I often get inspired by life events. Sometimes, while watching a movie, I see something particular that strikes me, and I reproduce it. I also create something related to the current season or a festive event. Halloween, for example, like Christmas, are period of great inspiration for me."
