When 83-year-old Mary O'Neill was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, her son, 44-year-old Sean O'saley, went with her on a trip around the world for a year and a half. Before leaving this world, Mary saw South Africa, Italy, and Nepal. According to O'salley, he wanted to make the last months of his mother's life the best.

Sean O'salley, 44, decided to take his mother Mary O'Neill away from Ireland for the winter, and they ended up traveling around the world for a year and a half. According to O'salley, the trip pleased his mother so much that during the trip, she began to walk and talk again.

Thanks to Sean, Mary was able to walk on the sands of South Africa, wander through the mountains of Italy and even take part in the festival of colors in Nepal before her death in 2019. Mary was diagnosed in 2013 at the age of 77. Sean was living in Rome at the time. He says his late mother is "the best thing that ever happened to him."

After Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, Sean constantly traveled from Italy to Dublin to take care of his mother. But when the family began discussing moving her to a nursing home in 2018, Sean took matters into his own hands, feeling that this was by no means the best choice for her.

After Nepal, in April 2018, Sean took Mary to his apartment in Rome.

In July, when it became too hot in Rome, the mother and son went to the mountains of Umbria.

Five months later, they headed to Cape Town, and despite Mary's deteriorating condition, Sean did everything he could to make sure she enjoyed the trip.

Mary died on May 24, 2019 in South Africa as a result of a lung infection.
