Lachlan Bailey's photo experiments: supermodels on a farm and eroticism in dusty fields

Australian photographer Lachlan Bailey works with the most famous models and stars of world cinema. Lachlan Bailey was born in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia and grew up in places as far away from the fashion world as possible. Now he says that in his youth he could not even imagine that the most famous women of the planet would be in front of his lens, and fashion magazines would vie with each other to offer him cooperation.

Among the celebrities who trusted Bailey to make their portraits, it is worth mentioning such stars as Emilia Clarke, Diane Kruger, Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Margot Robbie, Victoria Beckham and this is not a complete list.

Lachlan Bailey's works are similar to stills from films or a documentary, but not the result of a professional photo shoot. The secret of the photographer is that before picking up the camera, he studied in Melbourne to become a cinematographer and even managed to work a little in a big movie.

But then Bailey realized that he was busy with something else and began to study the photo. He began his professional career not in his native Australia, but in the UK, where he moved to live in 2001.

At first, Lachlan worked a little as a photographer's assistant in London, and since 2004 he began shooting himself. After a couple of years, England seemed tight to the photographer and he went to conquer New York, as we can see, quite successfully.

Bailey has his own, well-recognized handwriting. The photographer prefers large spaces, simple locations and close-ups. Favorite filming locations are beaches, fields and wastelands. The master is demanding of his models, and sometimes even too much. Over 20 years of work, he has accumulated a lot of funny stories, such as with the plus-size model Ashley Graham.
