Armed with hundreds of meters of bright pink yarn and a dedicated team of assistants, Olek tied a 100-year-old suburban house in Kerava (Finland), covering the entire structure with knitted ornaments.
Why this particular house and in this place?
"This building, built in the early 1900s, was the home of Karl Jakob Svenska (1883-1968). During the Winter War of 1939-1940 (the Soviet-Finnish War), the family ran away to hide from the bombs that fell into the yard, but they did not have to leave forever."
"In 2015, more than 21 million people were forced to leave their homes to escape from armed conflicts. Pink house, our pink house is a symbol of a bright future full of hope. It is a symbol of uniting us as a society," Olek explains.
