In the UK, a judge pitied a "loser thief" for his pathetic robberies

61-year—old Terence Cole from Liverpool is a big fan of gambling. At least, he was until recently.

The pensioner got so carried away with cards that he accumulated debts of 2 thousand pounds (172 thousand rubles), but did not think how he would give them back. As a result, the man went for a robbery, and then for another and another… But all his attempts to break the "big jackpot" were so unsuccessful that even the judge eventually decided to feel sorry for him.

The Court of England sentenced a 61-year-old resident of Liverpool, who made 7 attempts to rob - 6 banks and one bookmaker. The man was sentenced to 8 years in prison, although the term could have been much longer.

The "grandfather in law" went to his first business with a homemade dummy pistol. To do this, Cole wrapped a simple homemade brush with duct tape so that it resembled a weapon. The thief took a money bag with him, dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and gloves, covered his face with a scarf. Well, not a bad preparation, as for a 61-year-old pensioner.

Many people in Cole's place would have decided to "lay low" after such a failure, but our hero turned out to be a persistent robber. After some time, the man with his invariable brush-gun went to the bank, located just 27 meters from the first place of the "robbery".

There, Cole demanded that the cashier girl give him all the money, but she did not hear his speech (apparently because of the scarf) and turned to a colleague for help, deciding that the reason was an audio system malfunction. Watching the bank's employees deal with this problem, Terence decided to leave. No loot again.

The pensioner did not stop there. The next day he went to another bank and repeated the already proven scheme. As in the first case, the cashier girl managed to press the police call button, so the man hurried away from the bank.

A few hours later, the loser robber went back to work. This time Terence Cole's attention fell on the bookmaker's office. To the great regret of the robber, it turned out that a very brave employee works in this place. To the demand of Cole, threatening with a "weapon", to give him money, the girl replied only: "Fuck off!" and disappeared into another room. Apparently, she went to drink tea.

And the next day, Terence finally succeeded in a robbery attempt! The cashier girl took his dummy for a real weapon and gave all the money available at the cash register - 380 pounds. This would not be enough to pay off even half of the debt, so the pensioner went hunting again. The next day he went to another bank, hoping that fortune had become more favorable to him. But, it turned out that no. The cashier girl did not hear the grandfather's demands and thought that he was thrusting a paper-wrapped stack of coins into her window for exchange. It was only when a bank employee began to take his dummy weapon from Terence that he uttered the threat loudly and clearly. But all in vain — the alarm went off, and the man had to leave.

But even that's not all! About a week later, Terence Cole decided to rob a bank again. History repeated itself: the bank employee did not hear his demands and very quickly saw a fake in his gun. The man left the building empty-handed again.

After 6 days, Terence was detained, and at the end of January, the Liverpool court sentenced him. For such a number of unsuccessful robbery attempts, the sentence was reduced from life to 8 years.

By the way, earlier Terence Cole was already in prison for theft. I wonder what attempt he managed to make it?
