In Latvia, an unbalanced beaver treacherously attacked a passerby
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/in-latvia-an-unbalanced-beaver-treacherously-attacked-a-passerby.htmlIt sounds like the plot of a surreal nightmare, but nevertheless: in Latvia, a beaver attacked a passerby in the middle of the night. However, neither the police nor friends came to the rescue, because everyone called by the victim thought that this was either a stupid prank, or he, as they say, "caught a squirrel." Although in fact this evil toothy creature caught him in its tenacious paws and almost bit him to death.

Inna Plavoka, editor of the local newspaper Now, told Latvian radio LR4 that the man in question, named Sergei, was walking quietly down the street late at night when a beaver jumped out of the bushes and bit him on the leg. Sergei fell to the ground, tried to get up and run away, but was bitten by the treacherous creature again.
Then the beaver began to behave even more strangely, rushing at Sergei every time he tried to get to his feet and walk away. According to the Latvian radio, "the beaver actually held Sergei hostage."
It all sounds pretty creepy, but what happened next makes it even more frightening and funny at the same time.
Sergei turned to the police asking for help, but the other side hung up, thinking it was a stupid prank call. Then the victim contacted one of his friends by phone, but he also took his words for drunken delirium, until Sergei finally convinced him that he was indeed in serious danger.
This is where things get interesting.
At full speed, a friend hurrying to the rescue was stopped for speeding. The violator's excuses that he wanted to help a friend held hostage by a beaver - not even a flock, but just one beaver - did not convince the police at all.
But after the Good Samaritan successfully passed the alcohol test, the police reluctantly agreed to escort him to the scene of the crime.
Then, reportedly, the police found Sergei in the clutches of a toothy terrorist who clearly declared hostility towards the law and civilized humanity.
I had to call the specialists of the animal trapping service so that they isolated the monster from society. Later, in the hospital, Sergei received assistance, including 15 stitches.
Yes, it all sounds rather implausible, partly funny, and partly sad. But still, let's be careful with wild animals if they meet us on the way. Who knows what's on their minds? Even those deceptively cute-looking like a beaver.
