Residents of the Land of the Rising Sun work hard for 16 hours a day and often forget about what a vacation is. Office workers are famous for their dedication, they often die in the workplace from overwork. To help workaholics relax in the office, the Japanese company Koyoju Gohan has developed a vertical bed in the form of a capsule.
The standing sleep capsule was named Giraffenap, from the English words "giraffe" and "nap". Now office workers can take a nap "on the job" and this does not require a lot of space. The capsule is like a small telephone booth. It is 2.5 meters high and 1.2 meters wide.
Inside the capsule are special platforms. They provide fixation of the human body in a vertical position during sleep. They can be adjusted according to height. The chamber is soundproof and equipped with a fire alarm, a fire extinguisher, a socket for charging gadgets, and ceiling and floor LED lighting.
The creators of Giraffenap are confident that their brainchild will help organize the recreation of employees, which will increase their productivity and have a positive effect on health. Koyoju Gohan's promotional video says:
But do not think that you can fully sleep in the cell. The developer clarified that the optimal sleep time in the device is 20 minutes. If you sleep longer, it can adversely affect night sleep. In this case, the effect of Giraffenap will only be negative. So that the employee does not inadvertently oversleep more than expected, the designers provided an electronic alarm clock.
The creators of the "vertical bed" do not exclude that their brainchild will be useful not only in offices. Capsules can be used in other places, for example, in cafes, train stations, and generally anywhere a person may need to take a short nap. It is still unknown how interesting the development is for potential consumers.
The problem of organizing recreation in a confined space is not new. Its original solution was found more than 100 years ago in Britain. There, in the shelters for the homeless, rope bads were arranged - rope beds. By the way, so that office clerks do not fall asleep at the tables, in Japan not so long ago they came up with a sophisticated device in the form of a soft toy.
