In addition to volcanoes, this small island country has glaciers, rocky coasts, amazing geysers, thermal springs and other natural wonders. However, it is not necessary to wear the boots of a geologist to explore the landscape of this amazing country. Recently, Italian photographer Sandro Santioli took a series of photos of Iceland from a bird's-eye view.

"Aerial photos have always inspired me. These landscapes seem incredible from the ground, but from a bird's-eye view, they are simply amazing, " says the photographer. "I especially like places like seas, lakes, mountains, and volcanoes." Pictured: Landeyasandur. (Sandro Santioli, Solent News & Photo Agency)
"During my work, I faced many challenges. First, the weather, I had to fly in a tiny plane that was constantly shaking because of the air currents." In the photo: Tungnaa River. (Sandro Santioli, Solent News & Photo Agency)
For most of the flight, the plane's windows had to be open. So it was incredibly cold in the cabin. In the photo: Tungnaarfjell Mountains. (Sandro Santioli, Solent News & Photo Agency)

"One of my favorite photos is the Blue Lagoon," Sandro says. – This is a lagoon with hot springs surrounded by lava, where people often come. From a height, it looks simply gorgeous." (Sandro Santioli, Solent News & Photo Agency)
