Katerina Bodrunova started her professional photography career in 2009. Before that, she worked for an airline and photographed "for the soul", using her father's old Zenit . In 2010, the photographer presented to the world several surreal series of photographs, which were highly appreciated first in Russia, and then at foreign exhibitions.

Later, there was an interest in shooting underwater. Katerina says that she was inspired by the work of Xena Holloway, who can be considered a classic of this type of shooting. The photographer also admits that the impetus for starting work in the water was also vanity — in Russia, no one did such shooting, and she became the first.

Working in the water element turned out to be much more difficult than it seemed at first glance. Katerina had to get a PADI certificate that allows scuba diving and spend a lot of time searching for a suitable pool, which even in Moscow was not an easy task.

After solving organizational issues, it became easier — people who were interested in working in such an unusual genre began to come immediately and began a difficult, but incredibly interesting work.

As it turned out, working as a model underwater is difficult even for people who feel at home in the water. Many excellent swimming girls had to be refused, as it was difficult for them to stay under water for a long time and pose at the same time.

But in the end, "their" models were found and work on fantastic photos began to boil. In the process of filming, it was necessary to make a lot of effort to create the right lighting — Katerina did not have professional equipment and the light was set using standard pool lighting or ordinary lamps fixed above the water in the right places.

Katerina could not afford professional stylists and props - everything was made with her own hands from improvised materials.
