Yes, I am the Trinity Bridge, and today I will show you my insides — the draw mechanism.
But, for historical memory, I will say that initially, from the moment of my construction for the 200th anniversary of St. Petersburg in 1903 and until 1965, the wiring and guidance were carried out not by lifting the span of the bridge, as now, but by turning it in a horizontal plane around a vertical axis, while two ship openings were formed of 22.8 meters each.
In the 60s, due to increased traffic on the Volga-Balta, I had to be completely rebuilt. Now the span is 43 meters long, and in general I have become more elegant.
However, stop crowding like poor relatives on the embankment, let's go inside. Yes, instead of the front door, I have a trapdoor on the sidewalk.
A few flights down — and we're in the control room. Hence, there is control, management, visual observation of the processes of wiring and guidance of my movable span. As well as river traffic management — on command from here, traffic-permitting signs for vessels upstream and downstream are included. Visually, you can observe everything that is happening on four monitors (the bottom row is a duplicate), and you can go out on a small balcony.

But let's go further down. On the way we will see the cylinder of the hydraulic drive. There are four hydraulic cylinders in total, and with the help of them, the span is separated.
And now we are already below the level of the Neva River in one of the chambers to place a counterweight. More precisely, it is called a "counterweight well". It is here that the counterweight is lowered when lifting the span.
Between the two chambers there is a small workshop, from which you can get to the engine room and gallery.
However, the time is already 1:35. In total, 8 people breed me in a shift. The assistants of the chief signal from the surface by radio that traffic is blocked. Cyclists, pedestrians could not get through the ban on leaving the bridge, and you can start wiring.
The process of wiring and guidance is quite clearly displayed on the monitor.
You can go out on the balcony and really see how my single-wing span of 4 trusses rises up quite quickly at an angle of 72 degrees.

When the job is done, you can go to the so-called gallery.
Small vessels, boats are generally prohibited from passing through the drawbridge, but "all vessels do it."
Wing. By the way, at the beginning of navigation, I am tentatively bred to check the operability of mechanisms and equipment. This is what we call "waving your wings."
Let's go down to see the counterweights. Let me remind you, this is how the camera looked without them.
And that's how it is with him. Counterweight from a box filled with cast iron and concrete. 750 tons. Once in place, the counterweight is fixed with pins (clearly visible on the left).
The engine room consists of four engines. Actually, the wiring speed could be noticeably higher if all four engines were running simultaneously. But only two engines are working, the second ones are duplicating. The roles are alternately changed. The engines create oil pressure from the piston or rod side, and reciprocating motion is carried out.
The gallery is better.
View from the first continuous span. The span width is almost 24 meters (23.6). And my total length is almost 600 meters (582).
Pay attention to the gap between the spans. A careless pedestrian, once in it, will fall right into the counterweight chamber. There is practically no "chance".
72 degrees, 43 meters — the length of the span. The wing area is 45 by 23 meters.
And this is my older brother — Foundry. In total, there are 13 bridges in the family of Drawbridges. Blagoveshchensk and Liteiny are the very first, I am the third in seniority.
