This year, nature has left us without an Indian summer, replacing it with too cool and rainy weather. When it’s so cloudy and cold outside, you want to spend time at home, covered with a blanket, with a cup of hot tea or in good company, brewing homemade mulled wine for guests.
We have collected for you recipes for warming drinks that you can and should cook at home yourself.

1. Sbiten - this "old Russian" drink is almost a thousand years old. In the old days, the first samovars were used specifically for cooking sbiten. Sbiten is prepared from herbs, water and honey. In the cold season, this drink warms not only the body, but also the soul, it is prepared as follows: honey, herbs and spices are added to water boiling over low heat. Cook, removing the foam for 10-15 minutes, and insist for at least half an hour. For 1 liter of water you will need 50 grams of honey, ½ lemon, cinnamon, mint, cloves, oregano to taste.
2. Mulled wine. Its basis is white or red wine, to which fruits and spices are added. The main rule is that the wine is not brought to a boil. It is poured into a saucepan, put on low heat. Add spices and honey. The temperature should be approximately 80 degrees, then leave under the lid for 5-7 minutes to infuse the wine. For one bottle of red wine (750 ml), add cloves, cinnamon, anise and 2 tablespoons of fragrant honey to taste.
3. Grog is even more democratic than mulled wine - its ingredients can be sugar, honey, spices and spices, citrus fruits and fruits, caramel and even whipped cream. But keep in mind that grog has a much higher alcohol content than mulled wine, so it is advisable to use it with great care. To prepare grog, we need 50 g of tea leaves, 0.75-1 liter of vodka, 0.75-1 liter of water and 200-250 g of sugar. The technology of brewing the drink is simple: boil 1-2 glasses of water, add the same amount of vodka and sugar, boil everything over low heat for 5 minutes, brew tea in the remaining water in the usual way, let it brew. Pour the filtered ready-made tea and the remaining slightly warmed vodka into the hot syrup, stir.
4. Punch. The method of making punch is simple and resembles the now familiar mulled wine and grog. Wine is heated to 70 degrees in enameled or ceramic dishes, adding sugar, honey and spices to it. Some citrus fruits are cut into small pieces, juice is squeezed out of the rest. The vessel in which the drink will be served is heated - this can be done by pouring boiling water into it. Rum, strained juice are poured into a hot vessel, pieces of fruit are placed and hot strained wine is added. Serve hot, of course. For punch with lemon and orange you will need: 0.5 l of rum, 1 l of water, 250 g of sugar, 0.75 l of dry white wine, 2 oranges, 2 lemons.
5. Toddy. Very popular in the West, Toddy is very similar to the above drinks, with the only difference that it is customary to prepare and serve it in a separate glass - this is a “personal drink”. We heat the glass, then add 1 tsp to it. sugar, 100 ml of very hot boiled water, 60 ml of cognac, rum or whiskey, cinnamon stick, a little lemon juice, grated ginger root and a spoonful of honey. And if you do all the same, only without the alcoholic ingredient, after a few hours you get a healthy and invigorating drink that energizes and supports the immune system.
6. The simplest and most affordable warming drink, of course, is tea. Especially recommended tea based on herbs or with spicy flavors. The scope of fantasy here is limited only by the absence of any ingredients. We suggest trying to cook a rather exotic, but no less healthy and tasty option - Tibetan tea with ginger and milk. We will need to add warm low-fat milk to black (1 teaspoon) and green (2 teaspoons) tea brewed in 0.5 liters of water, then add 10 pieces of cloves and cardamom, 1 tbsp. a spoonful of fresh ginger, 0.5 teaspoon of ground nutmeg.
7. Chocolate with rum. When there is very little time, you can please your frozen friends with hot chocolate with rum. In freshly brewed cocoa, add rum in a ratio of 4: 1, add grated chocolate and put a few cubes of marshmallows.
Have a nice and warm evening!
