In this project, the artist took the paintings of great painters as a basis and superimposed heroes from other canvases on them. When looking at a new creation, the viewer unconsciously experiences cognitive dissonance, which is what Sikorsky wanted.
The 53rd work in a row is the painting "Midnighters", originally written by Edward Hopper. However, Sikorsky greatly transformed it by adding a huge number of characters from other artists to the plot. So, the heroes of Gauguin, Picasso, Munch, Magritte, Chagall and many others are now having a great time in the picture.
Andrei Sikorsky has a lot of interesting works in which he replaces the familiar objects in the paintings with something absolutely unexpected. Below we will show you some of them. Here, for example, "The Girl on the square", the artist "Pablo Malevich".
Olympia, Henri Manet.
The Seduction of Adam, by Mark Michelangelo.
"There's a new barmaid in Folies-Bergere, or Let's go," by Paul Manet.
"I'm so sick of these watermelons," Pablo Kustodiev.
"This is not a pipe," Amedeo Magritte.
"Dancing with an athlete in the bath", Kazimir Matisse.
"Flight with a beauty", Boris Chagall.
"The Birth of Chaliapin", Boris Botticelli.
And here's what the original of Hopper's painting of the same name "Midnighters" looks like and how Sikorsky sees it.
