How Far Eastern trepang is grown in Primorye

Blogger Yuri Smityuk from Vladivostok says: “The opening of a trepang production plant took place in Slavyanka. The plant is engaged in the reproduction of the Far Eastern trepang, that is, young animals (about four months old) are grown here, then the trepang leaves the territory of the plant.”

1. The opening was attended by high-ranking guests. Much has been said about the benefits of this project, both about the place where the marine culture of hydrobionts is restored, and the working site, about the benefits for the development of the Khasansky district. “The area of the plant is 518 m2. It consists of six workshops. We have created 24 jobs and this is just the beginning.”

2. After the opening, an excursion was organized for guests and the press around the plant. First, the guests were shown a laboratory - a small room for 3 people, where there are microscopes and other necessary equipment.

3. On the ground floor there are 20 two-ton baths for larvae and young animals, and a spawning workshop - the same baths, only with a fine mesh and an incomparably smaller volume.

4. Larvae appear in them (one month after spawning), after which they are transferred on nets to large baths, where they grow for another 2–3 months until they become young, after which they leave the plant.

5. Currently, more than 20 specialists are employed at the enterprise, many students of the Dalrybvtuz are doing their work experience here.

6. The workers said that it would soon be possible to expand production - that is, an increase in the number of two-ton bathtubs. “The main thing is that everyone has enough food”
