But for this girl has endured a lot of trials in her short life. The fact is that Bathsheba was born with a rare pathology — Cantrell's pentad. Her heart is located not in the chest, but under the skin in the area of the solar plexus. This is a rare defect found in one child in a million.
The fact that her daughter will be special, the girl's mother, Darya, found out before her birth. Doctors were not sure that the child would survive childbirth and offered to terminate the pregnancy. But the woman firmly decided to give birth and said that if everything goes well, she will accept her daughter as she is.
So Bathsheba was born, who has to live constantly remembering her uniqueness. Due to the fact that the girl's heart is not closed by either ribs or even muscles, a blow or an accidental push can be fatal for her. Also, serious loads are contraindicated for her and she has to keep an oxygen cylinder nearby.
But mother and daughter decided that the disease should not deprive Bathsheba of childhood. Therefore, she lives the full life of an ordinary child. The girl plays with her friends, runs, dances and even rides a pony. However, she has to wear special protection that covers a vulnerable heart.
Darya Borun-Goncharova told about it in an interview like this:
Bathsheba herself was afraid of everything at first, but then she got used to it and now believes that she was even lucky in some ways. She is not like everyone else, and does not know other people with a similar feature.
Mom and daughter have social media accounts, posting photos and videos about life with Cantrell's pentad. They have a whole army of fans who follow the girl's life and support her with kind words.
Darya believes that it is very important that as many people as possible find out about her child. She wants to show the world that special children can lead a full life, but need the careful attitude of others. Even more unlucky than Bathsheba was the British Vanilope Hope Wilkins. She was born with ectopia, and her heart was not even protected by skin.
