In recent years, the local authorities of several Italian cities have been selling abandoned houses for just 1 euro (about 93 rubles) to breathe new life into the settlements.
We will tell you about two interesting offers, thanks to which you can settle in sunny Italy almost for free, and the authorities of one village are even ready to pay decent money for your move.
In the town of Salemi on the island of Sicily, more than 30 houses are being sold that require major repairs. Many buildings here have been empty for several decades after the earthquake in 1968, which brought a wave of destruction.
Despite the fact that Sicily is one of the poorest regions of Italy, it is becoming a popular holiday destination. In recent years, a number of glamorous boutique hotels have opened here.
In the town of Salemi there is a Norman castle, a museum of ritual baptism and a local history museum. There are also restaurants and cafes of different levels.
According to the terms of the deal, the new resident will receive a monthly salary of 8,000 euros (about 740,000 rubles) for three years. Anyone who wants to establish a business in the village that will bring income to the local treasury can receive a one-time assistance in the amount of 20,000 euros (about 1.9 million rubles).
The conditions for concluding a transaction are simple: a person must be under 40 years old, have documents for the right to stay in Italy. A potential resident must have lived in the village for at least 5 years.
Applications have already been submitted by more than 1,500 people who want to move to the village. Among them, preference will be given to young married couples.
Meanwhile, a family from Italy decided to draw a beautiful house with a swimming pool in a lottery. A wonderful villa in the Tuscan hills, worth 400,000 pounds (about 40 million rubles), will go to the owner of the winning ticket for just 25 pounds (about 2,500 rubles).
