By Vika https://pictolic.com/article/herb-ritz-beauty-photographer.html“I think he sees beauty in everything,” said Hollywood actor Edward Norton, one of the countless stars Herb Ritz has photographed. An exhibition dedicated to the work of this famous American photographer only confirms his words: people and things in his photographs are shown as perfect, idealized. More than 20 years later, the cult of the human body of the most beautiful models of all time in Ritz's photographs continues to fascinate and remind us that beauty can be appreciated for the sake of beauty itself. Simple black-and-white portraits in natural light, with the play of light and shade and dramatic contrast are the hallmarks of the work of Herb Ritz, a Los Angeles-based photographer who died in 2002 at the age of 50 due to complications from AIDS.
