By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/headless-photoshop-of-the-last-century.htmlThese pictures collected on the Internet auction site eBay and elsewhere by the collector Robert E. Jackson, offer an unusual and amusing look at how in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century masters of photography processed images to behead their heroes or to put those same head somewhere else.
"Sometimes a photograph is there only to provoke laughter or a smile, without any hidden messages or meaning," says Jackson. For 20 years he collected about 12 thousand photos. "They can tell you more about the technical abilities of the photographer than about the heroes. All of them create the illusion of something bigger — a story about the supernatural and spirits," says the collector.
