Gravel flights at the World Supersport race in Aragon
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/gravel-flights-at-the-world-supersport-race-in-aragon.htmlThe FIM World Superbike Championship is a world championship where pilots on sports "charged" motorcycles participate in races. Road racing (namely, this is the name of this type of motorsport) is a stunningly spectacular, adrenaline-filled sport that is very popular among millions of fans around the world. WSBK is held in different countries and on different continents, including Australia, where, by the way, the first round of the 2014 season was held.

1. For Russia, road racing is not a big novelty, although, for example, the Russian championship in road racing has been held for less than fifteen years. Rather, high-level amateurs participate in it, and professional motorcycle racers can be counted on the fingers of one hand. It is all the more gratifying that last year it was the Russian team Yakhnich Motorsport that won the world champion title in the World Supersport class.
2. This year, the Russian team DMC Panavto-Yamaha, for which the Scotsman Kev Coglan plays (he is well known to Russian fans, including participation in the Russian Championship), as well as the young pilot Alexei Ivanov, also made a high-profile claim for leadership in this class, vice-champion of Russia in the Supersport class.

4. As for World Supersport, here pilots compete on 600cc motorcycles that meet certain requirements of the technical regulations of the championship. Of course, the senior class of WSBK, namely World Superbike, is always very interesting to watch, because the real “bison” of motorsport perform here. However, it is in the WSS that personnel for the top top of the championship are forged.

6. That is why here every time you can watch a tough struggle for leadership, and the race is interesting to watch even for those who are cool about motorsport. This is such a spectacle - pure adrenaline, which often makes fans break away from the TV and personally come to the WSBK stage to see everything with their own eyes.
7. Unfortunately, the World Championship stage, which was supposed to take place in the second half of September at the Moscow Raceway track near Moscow, was canceled for reasons beyond the control of the Russian promoter. But you can always watch the championship races on the Eurosport channel or, in the end, go on vacation to Europe or even South America to feel the real spirit of the competition of brave guys who risk a lot by getting involved in a fierce fight.

9. DMC Panavto-Yamaha had high hopes for the second WSBK race, which took place in Aragon, Spain just over a week ago. Note that the perseverance and talent of Kev Coghlan, who has been playing for DMC for the fourth year, plus the hard work of the team, brought Kev into a number of riders who make sense to bet on. The second pilot of the team, Alexei Ivanov, was given the task of improving the lap time and preparing for getting into the points zone.
10. Kev brilliantly completed the first part of his task, taking pole position (meaning that he would start the race first) for the first time in team history.
11. Closer to the second part of the World Supersport race, it became obvious that the engineers and mechanics of DMC Panavto-Yamaha would soon be able to taste the champagne that is traditionally presented to riders on the podium. It seemed that nothing would stop Coghlan, when suddenly, three and a half laps before the end of the race, his closest rival Jules Kluzel (by the way, playing for the titled Russian team Yakhnich Motorsport) in a desperate attempt to maintain a leading position rammed the rear wheel of the Scot's motorcycle.
12. As a result, both pilots flew off the track. But races would not be races where, by and large, it is impossible to predict anything in advance. Coghlan was incredibly lucky, he did not suffer any injuries, and his motorcycle was not damaged and started the first time. Jules Cluzel was much less fortunate - the Frenchman was forced to leave the race, and then apologized to Coghlan and his team.
13. Kev finished fifth, leading the championship with 31 points.

15. And very soon the third round of WSBK will take place, where we will be able to see further developments.
