Also, 2008 is the year of great achievements in politics. The 5-day war in Ossetia, which, according to Dmitry Medvedev, has become a "compulsion for peace," has turned from a catastrophe in diplomatic terms into an Internet meme.

In 2008, the first African-American president, Barack Obama, came to power in the United States, the same one who would then urinate in Russian entrances during two presidential terms.

At that time, pop culture had not yet become boring, and many hits were perceived as a revolutionary novelty. So, for example, singer Britney Spears made her way to the top of the chart with the track Womanizer, which today has already acquired a long "beard".
