By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/gentle-eroticism-from-photographer-robert-farber1.htmlThe works of Robert Farber influenced an entire generation of photographers. The creative handwriting of the iconic American photographer, which gives off the style of Impressionist artists, reflects the essence of the composition in each of the genres in which he creates: nude, still life, landscape and architectural photography.
Farber was born on February 29, 1944 in New Jersey and grew up in southern Maplewood Orange County. From an early age, thanks to his mother, who was an artist, he became interested in art. His mother encouraged his talents in every possible way and inspired him to create his own art studio in the basement, where he worked and created in oil, pencil and watercolor. Later, Farber graduated from the University of Miami in the Department of Marketing and Business.
One day, Farber told about what prompted him to take photos after painting: "One day I was walking along Miami Beach and saw a large woman in a tiny bikini. She was sitting on the beach knitting. And then I thought, what a pity I don't have a camera."
"I suddenly saw that photography is a great way to capture a moment and tell a story."
"This thought haunted me for a long time, and when I graduated from college, I immediately bought my first camera — a Japanese Petri 35mm SLR."
"I didn't really understand all this, I often made mistakes, for example, with color distortion, many frames turned out grainy."
"However, over time, I realized that because of these very mistakes, my photos are very similar to paintings."
In the 1970s, Robert Farber began to work actively in the field of advertising and fashion photography, collaborating with major brands: Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Christian Dior, Geoffrey Beene, Loden Frey, L'Oreal, Gillette, Revlon, Wrangler, ABC, Paramount Pictures.
Robert Farber became world famous for his photobooks, exhibitions, lectures and award-winning advertising campaigns.
Ten of Farber's photo albums have sold more than half a million copies. He has received many prestigious awards, lectures at higher educational institutions and professional groups in the USA, Japan, Australia and Europe.
His works are exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. Farber is called a master of nude photography and romantic mood.
