"Full Beauty" by Yossi Lolua

“Total Beauty” is the name of an unusual project by Italian photographer Yossi Lolua. Since 2006, he has been photographing women of unusually large proportions around the world. His models weigh from 190 to 270 kilograms.

1. The women in the photographs are naked and fall far short of the standards imposed by the fashion industry and a society obsessed with the idea of physical perfection.

2. "I focus on their pomp and femininity - pure aestheticism, as a form of protest and a response to discrimination imposed by the media," says the artist.

3. “Have you ever noticed that people, especially women, look more and more the same? asks Yossi, flipping through the catalog of his first exhibition. – Standard weight, breast size, nose and lips shape. We live in a society obsessed with the idea of physical perfection. But the real beauty lies in the variety of forms, and not in the standards imposed on us by the fashion industry. I see the most diversity and charm in the appearance of large women and I am ready to protest when they are discriminated against and forced to lose weight.

4. “Before, we spent a lot of effort to find women with the right weight and persuade them to get naked,” says Yossi. “But after the exhibition, people saw that the lush flesh is very feminine and aesthetic. Since then, it has become much easier for me to find models for shooting, not only in Italy, but also in other countries.”

5. Models weigh from 190 to 270 kilograms. When asked where the most suitable “models” are, Yossi replied: “There are many beautiful curvy women in Latin America, but it can be difficult to persuade them to shoot because of religious beliefs. It’s easier with Europeans.”
