Previously, its entire interior (as it is easy to guess, made of ice) melted with the onset of spring to be reborn next winter. In November, powerful refrigeration equipment was installed here, capable of maintaining the necessary temperature 365 days a year.
Icehotel was created 26 years ago and became the first of its kind. French artist Jean Deri held an exhibition in an igloo near the northernmost city of Sweden — Kiruna. On the day of the opening day, local hotels did not have enough seats for all visitors, and some spent the night in the exhibition hall, becoming the first guests of the future hotel.
Only the mattresses of the beds are made from the usual materials in Icehotel. And the sauna is ice cold. As well as the chapel, bar and restaurant. Guests can choose from three types of rooms: standard, suite, which has a special temperature-controlled area, as well as art apartments, where beautiful ice sculptures are placed.
