Fragments of horror: the remains of the Gulag camps

The second quarter of the twentieth century became one of the most difficult periods in the history of our country. This time marked not only the great Patriotic war, but also the mass repression. During the existence of the Gulag (1930-1956) was in the forced labor camps scattered throughout the region, visited, according to various estimates, from 6 to 30 million people.

After Stalin's death the camps were abolished, people tried as soon as possible to leave these places, many projects that were abandoned thousands of lives, went into decline. However, the evidence that the dark age is still alive.

"Perm-36"

Labour colony of strict regime in the village of Kuchino, Perm region lasted until 1988. In the days of the Gulag convicts sent here were law enforcement officers, and after the so — called political. The unofficial title of "Perm-36" appeared in the 70's, when the institution was assigned the designation of VS-389/36.

Six years after the closing on the former site of the colony was opened Memorial Museum of political repression history "Perm-36". Ruined barracks were restored, they placed the exhibits of the Museum. Lost fences, towers, alarm installations, engineering services has been recreated. In 2004, the world monuments Fund included the "Perm-36" in the list of 100 protected monuments of world culture.
